Join Claudia Macedo for a presentation about the vital work she does to repopulate the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest and raise awareness about the importance of ecosystems and forest restoration. Claudia Macedo is a doctor of physical therapy in the Rehabilitation and Wellness department of the Martha's VIneyard Hospital, who dedicates six months of the year to forest restoration in Brazil. Over the last 20 years, Claudia co-founded and became the vice-president of the Instituto Biosfera (IBIOS), established a partnership with the international nonprofit One Tree Planted, and spearheaded numerous conservation initiatives, including: a project to identify and map Atlantic Forest mother trees; a seed distribution project; and a collaborative family farming pilot project, among others. In 2021, her work in Brazil was recognized by BBC Earth in a story on forest restoration. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.
