Free Class: Understanding American Government
Federal and State Governments, Elections, and Democracy
The Millicent Library is pleased to announce a free class, “Understanding American Government.” This class is designed to provide citizens with a comprehensive understanding of State and Federal Governments and how they interact with one another. This informative and engaging course will cover fundamental topics such as:
- The Declaration of Independence
- United States Constitution
- Massachusetts Constitution
- Structure of Federal and State governments
- Separation of Powers
- Interaction between Federal and State governments
This course will be led by local attorney and Fairhaven resident, Ellen Nelson
Ellen has a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and Political Science from the University of Massachusetts and a Juris Doctor from the Cardozo School of Law in New York. She has taught classes on government and introduction to law at community colleges and privately.
