Paws to Read

Build reading skills and gain confidence in reading aloud by coming to the Library to Paws to Read! Register to reserve a 15-minute time slot to have your child read to Gizmo and Pepe, two adorable chihuahua/pomeranian mix therapy dogs. Research has shown that reading aloud to another person can help struggling readers with their overall performance and confidence. But did you know that reading comprehension improves even more when reading to a dog rather than an adult? It's true! 

Each one-on-one private session is facilitated by Sandra Healey and her two dogs. Space is limited.

Children should bring a book they can read or come a few minutes before to select one in the children's room.
